Start teaching your kids from Day 1 about the importance of stewardship and giving to God. Here are some ideas..
God Loves a Cheerful GiverEdit
"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Cor 9:7, NIV. You could use modestly dressed cheerleaders to hlep with this theme (give away pom poms...). Also, might want to a bridge to Lucky Charms and how giveing back to God can be 'magically delicious' and how when we give our 'gold' back to God, a rainbow of joy will be seen in our lives....
Have kids take one of their favorite toys and give them to kids less fortunate. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27
Will a man rob God? Have a kid come up, ‘what is your name?,’ your name is actually “Robin Steele” (put robbers mask/outfit on kids - explain Mal 6:8, you have been robbing God)
have everyone make tight fist, as everyone is holding it, explain that is a famine fist, no giving, no receiving... open your hand and you can give AND receive blessings.
God's Middle Name is MoreEdit
God’s middle name is “More” (See Eph 3:20, Ps 84:11, Ps 68:19)
Use a seed to illustrate how God wants plant you, grow you, increase you and mulitply you. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." Gal 6:7, NIV.
Ties and Awful ThingsEdit
Do a pun, have someone come up with ties tied all over their body and a hand ful of 'awful things' (like diapers, dirty kleenex...), then have another leader correct him that God wants your 'tithes and offerings,' not your 'ties and awful things.' Mal 3:10
Have an umbrella and have one kid hold the umbrella opened up, then go to spray the kid with water. Of course they stay dry. Then have another kids come up with out an umbrella and of course they get wet when sprayed. When we are faithful, God will give us His umbrella of protection. Mal 3:9
Multiply your moneyEdit
Put coin in tithe envelope and out pops bunch of bills (called a 'money spring'). Luke 6:38
- Offering confession (Luke 6:38)
- In Hs hands (Deut 8:18)
- Begging Bread (Ps 37: 25)
- The Powerf of the Seed (2 Cor 9:10)
- God loved and God gave (John 3:16)
- Not Enough Room (Mal 3:10) - do a skit or exagerated story about not having enough room.
